Hi folks,

The April release is scheduled to go out tonight.

I have promised everyone a sneak peak into what this release contains. Here are a few exciting items.

Some of the Key Features include:

1) Multi-warehouse Sales Orders - This exciting new feature provides the capability to assign a shipping warehouse at the Sales Order line item level in QuickBooks Enterprise, and have separate Sales Orders automatically created in Velocity Inventory and sent to the correct warehouse for each line item.

2) Unit of Measure - Velocity Inventory now supports multiple units of measure as defined in QuickBooks Enterprise, with viewing options for Inventory views, and UOM visibility through all Velocity Inventory processes on the PC and the mobile bar code scanner.

3) Item Attribute Controls - New System Wide and Item level options for managing data collection and views for Item attributes. (Lot Number, Expiration Date, Receive Date) This includes:

- FIFO (First In First Out) Inventory rotation option. Keeps your inventory rotating based on the date it was received in your warehouse.

- FEFO (First Expiration First Out) Inventory rotation option. This insures stock rotation based on Expiration date, with an option to automatically place expired inventory on "Expired" hold to prevent it from being picked for a Sales Order.

- Item Attribute fields are now easily editable in the Inventory Detail screen.

- I know many of you are waiting for the enhanced Serial Number Functionality. Unfortunately, it did not make it out of QC in time for this release. We will get it out to you ASAP.

4) Bar Code Import - This new feature automatically imports a bar code from a QuickBooks Enterprise Custom Item field into the Velocity Inventory Item Bar Code field.

This is a just a partial list of what is actually a pretty extensive release. I believe we have a couple of "home runs" in this release, and I hope you like the new functionality.

Stay tuned, the next release has a few more enhancements that are just as big. I will give you some hints in a few weeks.

Thank you for your time,

Kevin

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the question. Serial Numbers have been an interesting problem to tackle. They are easy to deal with when you have a quantity of 3. Much harder when you have a quantity of 3000.

To start with, we are splitting the current Lot/Serial Number field into two fields. This helps people who have items with both a lot and a serial number, and it allowed us to start creating enhancements specific to Serial Numbers. From there most of the enhancements revolve around the collection and tracking of Serial Numbers.

The reality is that any sort of large scale Serial Number collection is best done with a mobile bar code scanner. So a great deal of attention has been spent on simplifying this process while using the mobile bar code scanner. We are introducing the concept of collecting ranges of serial numbers, and workflows that allow for fast scanning of large quantities of serial numbers. Most of these changes are also available on the PC, but the scanner is the best solution for any sort of volume.

Overall, the changes are extensive and well worth the effort. If you are a serial number user, Velocity Inventory is about to become a very inviting solution for you. It will make your warehouse more efficient, and your employees a whole lot happier.

Thank you for your time,

Kevin

What is the differences or similarities between Velocity Inventory and Advancepro. I purchased Advancepro, have 30 days to return, but now need Enterprise, so can return Advancepro if needed. We like the dashboards in Advancepro that help organize the workflow by seeing the order stages and the order entry and return screens are easy to use.
